"Barberized" Half, Quarter, & Dime!
3 Attachment(s)
A friend of mine acquired a few small bags of 90% silver coins passed down through his family last March. Knowing I was into PM's he asked me when to sell and I told him immediately! Then silver was hovering around $20. Now that I have seen the stash, I am glad they were not sold.
I might add, trying to get him to sell to me has been so far unsuccessful. (he is now wise to spot prices) Anyway, I succeeded in trading two 90% Kens for 2 Barber quarters and two Standing liberties. Paid a Dollar for the Barber Dime. I got into PM's mainly to buy bullion, but have now learned from prospecting a bit about numismatic value, as there is much to know. Figured this was worth sharing and here are the pics. AGRO- P.S. When I get a full inventory I could use some advice on what to try to get off him before I lose my chance. I know there are more Barber 1/4s, More Standers, Some dimes 90% no Mercs, some Walkers & a few others. Some old nickels I believe these are not 90% though. The Half shown is from Prospecting. Thanks, EireGoBragh for the thread title. |

Very nice trading! Aesthetically, I think Barbers are gawd-awful designs, but they are still very cool to own... have a few myself. I mean, under that cap Mr. Barber's butch-ish Miss Liberty looks like she only has half a head. No doubt, they are what inspired Teddy Roosevelt to initiate re-designs that resulted in some of our best looking U.S. coins of all time (IMHO) like Walking Liberty halves, St. Gauden's $20 gold and that beautiful Standing Liberty quarter you grabbed up!

I don't know what it is but I love Barbers! maybe partially b/c of their value and rarity to find. So use to the Morgan design as well. If we grade one of these Barbers at Fine it rings in at $22, almost 3 times as much as a Stander! |
